Targinnie is a small rural community north-west of Gladstone. Its history is not unlike many other rural areas of Queensland - Indigenous occupation, pastoralism, agriculture, timber and some mining.
An interesting story associated with Targinnie was the settlement in the district by a group of Russian Old Belivers. They maintained their customs and culture into the 2000s.
